Intellectual property and biotechnology: a comparative study between the protection of Brazil and Argentina

This article aims to carry out a comparative analysis between the legal protection of biotechnology in Brazil and Argentina. To this end, initially, there was a presentation on intellectual property as an instrument used by capital to preserve profit; secondly, it dealt with the development of biotechnology protection models existing in Brazilian and Argentine legislation and a comparative study was carried out between the standards of the two countries. It was found that the similarity of legislation is due to the effectiveness of the international law instruments used, which impose models on developing countries, through which the profit of large transnational companies is guaranteed. In the development of qualitative research, the deductive approach method and comparative historical procedure were used. The research technique was bibliographic in primary and secondary sources.
