Submission Preparation Checklist
Before submitting, please confirm:
- The chosen section and its length range match the Author Guidelines.
- The work is unpublished and is not under consideration elsewhere.
- It includes an abstract of up to 200 words and three to five keywords.
- It includes title, abstract and keywords in English.
- All authors have an ORCID and a complete affiliation in the metadata.
- The text carries a checked reference list, with DOIs where they exist.
- For double-anonymous sections, the file has been anonymised.
- Tables and figures are numbered and captioned, with permission for third-party material.
- Conflicts of interest, use of generative AI and derived-text origin have been declared.
Articles
Previously unpublished original research or review work, subject to double-blind peer review by at least two external reviewers. Texts previously published as book chapters are accepted upon disclosure of republication and authorisation from the original publisher.
Essays
This section publishes short scholarly contributions subject to double-anonymous peer review by at least two external reviewers. Review is the same as for Articles; what distinguishes the section is length and apparatus, not rigour.
An essay must advance an identifiable thesis on a theoretical, doctrinal or public policy problem, supported by scholarly literature and a reference list. Literature summaries, professional experience reports and unsupported opinion pieces are not accepted.
Length: 15,000 to 30,000 characters including spaces. Target editorial decision time: 45 days.
Case Notes
This section publishes peer-reviewed analytical commentary on a specific judicial or administrative decision, subject to double-anonymous review by at least two external reviewers.
The decision under analysis must be identified by court or authority, case number, rapporteur and date. Decisions from any instance, Brazilian or foreign, are eligible, provided the commentary establishes their relevance to intellectual property, contemporary law or constitutional law. Decisions handed down within the last twenty-four months are preferred; commentary on a leading case or on a historical decision is accepted with justification.
Submissions must include: full identification of the decision; a summary of the case and of the dispute; an explicit statement of the research problem raised by the decision; reasoned analysis grounded in scholarship and precedent; the author's critical position, stated explicitly; a conclusion; and a reference list. Citation confined to footnotes does not meet the requirements of this section.
The section does not accept: reproduction of the full text of a decision; a headnote followed by brief comment; description of a decision without a research problem; or commentary on proceedings in which the author acted as party, counsel, assistant or expert, unless a declaration of interest is provided.
Length: 15,000 to 35,000 characters including spaces. Target editorial decision time: 45 days.
Translations
Works by foreign authors rendered into Portuguese, or works from this journal rendered into other languages, published with the authorisation of the author and of the original publisher. The translator is identified in the metadata and on the article page. These undergo editorial assessment and technical review by a specialist in the field, not blind peer review — the original text was already reviewed at the place of first publication.
Book Reviews
Critical analysis of a published work, with the full bibliographic reference of the work reviewed. Editorial assessment.
Copyright Notice
On submitting a work to Revista PIDCC, authors declare their agreement with the terms below.
- Ownership. Authors retain full copyright and grant the journal the right of first publication. There is no transfer of economic rights and no requirement of subsequent exclusivity.
- Licence. Accepted works are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) licence, which permits sharing and adaptation for any purpose, including commercial use, provided credit is given to the authors and to the original publication.
- Self-archiving. Authors are permitted to distribute the published version in institutional and subject repositories, on personal websites, in academic networks and as book chapters, with no embargo period, citing the original publication in this journal and its DOI.
- Preprints. Prior deposit on preprint servers and in repositories is encouraged and does not count as previous publication for the purposes of originality.
- Originality and authorship. Authors declare that the work is unpublished, that authorship is correctly attributed, and that all co-authors are aware of and approve the submission.
- Third-party content. It is the authors' responsibility to obtain and evidence the permissions required to reproduce images, tables, extensive excerpts or any protected material owned by third parties. The licence adopted by the journal does not extend to such content.

The names and email addresses entered in this journal site are used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and are not made available for any other purpose or to any other party.

Data processed and purpose
- Authors: name, email, institutional affiliation, country, ORCID and, where provided, CV link. Purpose: identification of authorship, editorial communication, attribution of credit and distribution of metadata to indexing services — where name, affiliation and ORCID become public by the nature of scholarly publishing.
- Reviewers: name, email, affiliation and areas of interest. Purpose: invitation and management of review. Reviewer identities are not published.
- Registered readers: name and email. Purpose: notifications the person has requested.
Legal basis
Processing relies on legitimate interest in editorial and scholarly activity (Art. 7, IX, Brazilian General Data Protection Law) and on consent for optional communications (Art. 7, I). Publication of authors' names, affiliations and ORCID iDs follows from the purpose of scholarly dissemination itself.
Cookies
The system uses a session cookie for authentication and language preference. There are no advertising cookies, behavioural tracking or third-party marketing cookies.
Sharing
Metadata of published works — including author names, affiliations and ORCID iDs — is distributed to indexing services and metadata infrastructures, among them Crossref, OAI-PMH, OpenAlex and discovery services. Author and reviewer email addresses are not shared.
Retention
Authorship data of published works is retained indefinitely, as part of the permanent public record of scholarly publication. Registration data with no associated submission may be deleted on request.
Data subject rights
Under Art. 18 of the Brazilian General Data Protection Law, data subjects may request confirmation of processing, access, correction, anonymisation, portability, information about sharing, and withdrawal of consent. Requests should be sent to editorial@pidcc.com.br and are answered within 15 days.
One limitation: authorship of an already published work cannot be erased, as it forms part of the permanent scholarly record. Corrections to spelling, affiliation and identifiers are made at any time.
