The rights to intimacy and privacy in the face of the mechanisms for collecting personal data on the World Wide Web

The main objective of the present work is to analyse and understand the mechanisms for collecting users' personal data on the World Wide Web and the dangers to which the privacy and intimacy of these people are exposed. To this end, the present work is divided into three sections: the first aims at a better understanding of the legal rights to intimacy and privacy; the second aims to review the main theories that seek to explain the rights to intimacy and privacy; the third section aims to explore the current digital context, in which personal data collection tools are openly and widely used, creating a large volume of personal information that is sold to interested companies. Regarding the methodology, as a technical procedure, bibliographic research was carried out; as to the objective, descriptive and exploratory research was undertaken. In the end, it was concluded that the intimacy and privacy of the users of the world-wide computer network have become a central product of the consumption and sales policy adopted by companies.
